D2C Fashion Startup Theater Raises Rs 75 Crore

The Series A funding round, led by Niveshaay, values the design-led fashion brand at Rs 410 crore as it eyes rapid offline expansion.
Indian direct-to-consumer (D2C) fashion and accessories brand Theater has successfully secured Rs 75 crore in a Series A funding round led by investment firm Niveshaay. The funding round also saw participation from new investor Physis Capital and existing backer Prath Ventures. This latest capital infusion values the startup at approximately Rs 410 crore on a post-money basis.
Founded in 2021 by Sarthak Aggarwal, Vikram Jain, Karan Jain, and Shruti Aggarwal, the startup specializes in design-led, mass-premium fashion products, including footwear, stockings, bags, and perfumes. Theater plans to utilize the fresh funds to aggressively scale its offline retail presence across India and invest in key brand-building initiatives, including targeted marketing campaigns and high-profile celebrity partnerships.
"We started Theater because we couldn’t find beautiful, well-made accessories in India that weren’t either a luxury import or a compromise. So we decided to build them ourselves—made in India and priced for a generation that cares deeply about design but doesn’t want to pay luxury prices."
– Sarthak Aggarwal, Co-founder and CEO, Theater
The startup's financial trajectory highlights its rapid market adoption. Theater reported an operating revenue of Rs 33.35 crore for the fiscal year ending March 2025, representing a stellar 2.37-fold growth compared to the previous fiscal year. This Series A round follows a $1.5 million pre-Series A fundraise led by Prath Ventures in September 2024, signaling continued investor confidence in the brand's premium market positioning.
Commenting on the investment, Arvind Kothari, founder of Niveshaay, emphasized that the funding was driven by Theater’s unique focus on design-led products in historically unorganized lifestyle categories. By addressing critical market gaps for the aspirational Indian consumer, Theater is successfully transitioning from a digital-first disruptor into a formidable omnichannel player.
