Docterz healthcare technology platform receives ₹5 crore funding with significant investment from doctor-users.

Healthcare technology company Docterz has raised ₹5 crore from approximately 35 investors, with nearly 60 per cent of the funding coming from doctors who use its platform. Around 20 doctor-users collectively invested close to ₹3 crore, making them the largest contributor group in the funding round.

Founded by practising paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad more than a decade ago, Docterz provides an integrated technology platform designed to help medical practitioners manage their clinical and administrative activities. The investor group also includes Vineeta Singh, Co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, Co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane.

The platform brings together electronic medical records, appointment scheduling, billing, vaccination management and patient engagement tools. According to the company, its technology currently supports more than 5,000 doctors across India, with a strong presence in paediatrics.

Dr Laddad said the participation of doctors who regularly use the platform was particularly significant because they understand the product's development and the practical requirements of medical practice. The company aims to build technology that helps doctors manage documentation, appointments, staff coordination and patient follow-ups while maintaining their clinical independence and direct relationships with patients.

Doctor-investors said their decisions were influenced by their experience with the software and confidence in its potential to improve the efficiency of medical practices. The company has highlighted patient-data privacy and security as important elements of its approach.

Docterz plans to use the fresh capital to support organic expansion, explore acquisition opportunities and develop practical artificial intelligence tools for doctors. The proposed tools will focus on everyday clinical and practice-management requirements, including documentation, administrative workflows, practice data and patient follow-ups.

The company also intends to expand its reach among independent practitioners, smaller clinics and healthcare organisations across India. The funding round highlights the participation of healthcare professionals as investors in technology platforms developed around their everyday working needs.
