Indian para-athlete Sachin Sarjerao Khilari won gold in the men’s shot put F46 event at the 2026 Asian Para Games, helping India secure all three podium positions in the competition. The performance marked another major achievement for India’s para-athletics contingent.

Khilari produced a throw of 15.87 metres to secure the gold medal and set a new Games record, according to The Indian Express. His victory also saw him successfully defend the title he won at the previous edition of the Asian Para Games.

India’s Mohammed Yasser claimed silver with a throw of 15.06 metres, while fellow Indian athlete Parveen secured bronze. The result gave India a clean sweep of the gold, silver and bronze medals in the men’s F46 shot put.

The F46 classification is used in para-athletics field events for athletes with eligible upper-limb impairments. The shot put requires competitors to propel a heavy metal ball from the shoulder, with the longest valid throw determining the winner.

Khilari’s latest gold adds to his international record. He previously won silver in the men’s shot put at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and gold at the 2022 Asian Para Games, demonstrating consistency across major international competitions.

The Indian government congratulated Khilari on retaining his title and leading the all-Indian podium finish. The Prime Minister’s Office praised his consistency, determination and sustained sporting performance.

The result underlined India’s strong showing in para-athletics at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, as the country’s athletes continued to add medals across track and field events.
