Aman Sehrawat Wins Historic Asian Games Gold
Aman Sehrawat defeated reigning world champion Han Chong-Song of North Korea 11–7 to win gold in men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling at the 2026 Asian Games.
Sehrawat had faced interruptions to his competition schedule before the Games because of health and weight-related difficulties. His victory in Nagoya marked his return to major international competition in the 57kg category since the Paris Olympics.
The gold was India’s second wrestling title at the 2026 Asian Games, following Sujeet Kalkal’s victory in the men’s 65kg freestyle category. Sehrawat’s win also continued India’s medal run in wrestling across freestyle and Greco-Roman events.
Following the victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sehrawat, describing the result as a historic achievement for Indian wrestling. The win adds another major milestone to the wrestler’s career as he continues to pursue future world championship and Olympic goals.
