Facing French Grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave on the icon board, the Norwegian world number one produced a fluent, authoritative performance to seal his second individual victory of the competition without relying on time scrambles.

Anish Giri's clinical display against young Indian talent M. Pranesh served as the defining highlight of the contest, anchoring a dominant team outing for the Alpine APL Pipers.

Wednesday proved disastrous for two-time champions Triveni Continental Kings, who suffered consecutive defeats to remain anchored at the bottom of the tournament standings. After being dismantled 15-3 by Ganges Grandmasters earlier in the day, the Continental Kings slumped to another loss against American Gambits. Meanwhile, PBG Alaskan Knights defeated Cheq Mumba Masters 11-6, keeping both squads locked on nine match points apiece.
