Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2026 on October 27 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The three-day event, running until October 29, aims to bring scientists, researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, startups and international experts together to discuss India’s science and technology priorities.

Organised by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under the guidance of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, ESTIC 2026 is designed to encourage collaboration across research institutions, industry and government. The conclave will focus on emerging technologies and ways to translate scientific research into practical applications.

The programme will cover 12 thematic areas, including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, advanced materials, manufacturing, healthcare, energy, climate and ocean sciences. These areas reflect the range of technologies expected to influence industrial development, public services and future research.

An exhibition will showcase indigenous scientific achievements and emerging technologies. Around 150 deep-tech startup stalls are expected to present innovations and demonstrate potential applications across sectors, providing startups with an opportunity to engage with researchers, businesses and other stakeholders.

A new Global Connect Networking Event will bring together more than 300 invited participants from academic institutions, research organisations and industry in India and abroad. The initiative aims to encourage international research partnerships, strengthen industry-academia collaboration and support the movement of innovations from laboratories towards commercial applications.

The conclave will also feature plenary sessions, technical discussions, panel interactions, technology demonstrations and presentations. Interactive displays, documentaries and augmented- and virtual-reality experiences will help visitors engage with scientific developments and their possible real-world uses.

The event builds on efforts to strengthen India’s research and innovation ecosystem by connecting scientific institutions, emerging businesses and established industries. Collaboration across these groups can help address technical challenges, support the development of new products and improve the application of research.

ESTIC 2026 is scheduled to conclude on October 29. Its outcomes will depend on the research partnerships, technology collaborations and practical initiatives that emerge from the discussions. The event forms part of the wider national focus on science, technology and innovation in support of India’s long-term development goals.
