PM Wishes Indian Asian Games Contingent
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to Indian athletes as the Asian Games opened in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 19 extended his best wishes to the Indian contingent participating in the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
In a message shared as the Games began, Modi said Indian athletes had worked hard and demonstrated dedication and determination. He said the country was proud of the athletes and wished them success in their competitions.
The 20th Asian Games formally opened in Nagoya on September 19 and will continue until October 4. Athletes from 45 nations are participating across multiple sporting disciplines.
India had earlier announced a 503-member contingent for the Games, including more than 300 athletes making their Asian Games debut, according to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The Indian contingent received a formal send-off in New Delhi on September 8 ahead of its participation in the multi-sport event.
