Mastercard Launches Premium World Select in India

The new premium card programme targets India's rapidly growing affluent class with curated travel, dining, and lifestyle privileges.

In a bid to capture India’s rapidly expanding affluent consumer segment, global payments giant Mastercard has launched "World Select," a premium consumer card programme. Unveiled at the Global Fintech Fest 2026, the luxury initiative has been introduced in collaboration with prominent domestic issuers, including RBL Bank, City Union Bank, and Jammu & Kashmir Bank, to offer customized solutions across travel, luxury dining, wellness, and lifestyle.

The launch comes at a time when India's high-income demographic is growing at an unprecedented rate. According to insights from the Mastercard Economics Institute, India is projected to add over 17 million high-income households by the year 2030. This rising segment is increasingly prioritizing experiential luxury, convenience, and bespoke benefits over traditional reward structures, prompting financial institutions to sharpen their premium acquisitions and customer engagement strategies.

"This programme is designed for consumers who prioritise convenience and experiences and seek value both in India and while travelling internationally," said Gautam Aggarwal, President, India & South Asia at Mastercard.

To cater to these sophisticated consumer demands, World Select brings together a robust ecosystem of local and international partnerships. Cardholders will enjoy exclusive perks, such as complimentary stays at select ITC Hotels properties, up to INR 4,000 off on first-time visa applications via Atlys, and up to 50 percent dining discounts at more than 1,000 partner restaurants through EazyDiner. For added peace of mind, the card also provides travel insurance that features a unique option to cancel travel plans for any reason up to twice a year.

Beyond travel and dining, the premium programme features integrated access to Mastercard’s proprietary luxury ecosystems, including the Culinary Club, the India Golf Program, and hotel loyalty benefits. Members will also gain entry to "The Mastercard Collection," which grants airport security Fast Track lane access and entry to more than 1,350 airport lounges across nearly 150 destinations worldwide. Mastercard plans to scale the World Select platform further by onboarding additional banking partners and introducing new lifestyle rewards in the coming months.
