PM Modi to Inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 as India Expands Semiconductor Ecosystem
The fifth edition of SEMICON India begins in New Delhi, bringing global semiconductor companies, investors, policymakers and researchers together to discuss India’s chip ecosystem.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fifth edition of SEMICON India 2026 on September 17 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. The three-day semiconductor and electronics conference and exhibition will run through September 19 under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.
The event is being jointly organised under the aegis of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and SEMI. It will bring together global and Indian semiconductor companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, startups, academic institutions and students.
According to the official programme, SEMICON India 2026 will focus on the semiconductor value chain, covering areas including materials, equipment, chip design, fabrication, advanced packaging, electronics and systems. A new “Sand to Silicon to Systems” Value Chain Experience will showcase these stages as part of an integrated ecosystem.
The event is expected to feature more than 600 participating companies, representatives from 52 countries, over 400 executives and more than 150 speakers. The exhibition will also include country pavilions, state booths, a Startup Pavilion, Innovation Showcase, Student Hackathon and Workforce Development Pavilion.
SEMICON India 2026 comes as the government seeks to expand domestic semiconductor manufacturing, chip design, packaging and related capabilities. The official SEMI announcement said three of the 12 semiconductor projects approved under the Semicon India Programme had commenced commercial production, while the next phase, Semicon 2.0, is built around areas including chip design, machinery and materials, fabrication, advanced packaging, research and development, and talent development.
The conference will also include sessions on display technologies, supply-chain resilience, sustainability, artificial intelligence, startup innovation and workforce development. The organisers describe the event as a platform for collaboration, investment, innovation and talent development across the semiconductor and electronics industry.
