Pranavi Urs Wins Historic Asian Games Golf Gold
The Mysuru golfer becomes the first Indian woman to win individual golf gold at the Asian Games, while India secures silver in the women's team event.

Indian golfer Pranavi Urs created history on October 3, 2026, by winning the women's individual golf gold medal at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The 23-year-old from Mysuru became the first Indian woman to win individual golf gold at the continental Games. Her performance also helped India secure silver in the women's team competition.
Pranavi finished the four-round competition with a total of 15-under-par 265, securing victory by one stroke. She carded an even-par 70 in the final round at Kasugai Country Club's East Course, holding off China's Yin Ruoning and Singapore's Shannon Tan, who both finished at 14-under-par 266.
The final round began with a major setback for Pranavi. After starting with a three-shot advantage, she recorded a triple bogey on the third hole, losing her lead. She responded with birdies on the sixth, 10th and 13th holes and maintained her composure over the closing stretch to secure the gold medal.
The victory also ended India's wait for another Asian Games golf gold since Shiv Kapur won the men's individual title in 2002. Pranavi's achievement marks a milestone for Indian women's golf after Aditi Ashok won silver in the women's individual event at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
India also won silver in the women's team event through Pranavi Urs, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar. The Indian trio finished with a combined score of 14-under-par 546, behind China's winning total of 22-under-par 538. Chinese Taipei took bronze with 560.
Aditi Ashok produced a strong final round of 67, while Diksha Dagar carded 77. The team result gave India its best finish in the women's team golf event at the Asian Games, adding another medal to the country's campaign in Aichi-Nagoya.
