Protesters Blocked From Reaching Jantar Mantar
Delhi Police tightened security around Jantar Mantar on Gandhi Jayanti, preventing many protesters from reaching the site amid restrictions on public gatherings.

Several protesters attempting to reach Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 2 were stopped by police amid heightened security and restrictions on public gatherings. The demonstration was linked to demands concerning alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and the right to vote.
According to The Times of India, police personnel in anti-riot gear were deployed along approach roads, with barricades placed at multiple points. Some protesters were prevented from reaching the site's back gate, while police vehicles were positioned to manage the situation and transport detainees.
Those who tried to reach the protest site included people who had participated in earlier demonstrations, students and other citizens. Some described the restrictions as an obstacle to their right to protest. Several people reported taking detours or being unable to get close to Jantar Mantar.
The police preparations followed an earlier period of agitation in June and July. Authorities increased security for the October 2 gathering, with restrictions imposed in the area and measures intended to prevent an unauthorised assembly.
The events took place amid wider political disagreement over electoral-roll revisions and allegations of voter deletions. Aam Aadmi Party leaders and other protesters raised concerns about voting rights, while the restrictions on access to Jantar Mantar shaped the day's demonstrations.
